Reach for the Future!
It's been a whirlwind week...
I returned from California with barely enough time to prepare for my next round of travels. First on the agenda was an annual tradition for me: Guest speaker for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards just south of Dallas, Texas.
It was Day 4 of their conference, and the participants had all been up past midnight... many of them hanging out and talking until 2 am. I arrive bright-eyed on Wednesday morning, ready to talk to them about community and being of service. I could feel the imminent yawns as I arrived.
But that didn't last long.
Once we engaged in a dialogue about service and leadership and community, the room came to life. One hundred and sixty young people, all hand-picked by local Rotary Clubs, stepped up to play. Their comments were insightful and sophisticated beyond their years. Their energy and passion was contagious. Their dreams - awe-inspiring.
I share my experience with you this morning for two reasons: For those of us "more advanced in years," it's a reminder of the vibrancy and talent that is standing at the ready, poised to take humanity to its next level of evolution.
But even more... my intention is to reach out to the youth of America. Your time is NOW. We are ready for your gifts NOW. Don't wait until graduation. Don't wait until after college. You are gifted beyond measure. And the world is counting on you to BRING IT!
